It's My Birthday and I'll Cry if I Want To...

...You would cry too if it happened to you! Well hello lovely readers. It is in fact my birthday. I am the ripe old age of 26. This is the age I'll be when I marry my wonderful mister.

My mom sent me a virtual funfetti (my favorite) cupcake this morning!

But more on the post title: I got rejected from Weddingbee (again!) I found Weddingbee before we even got engaged and have been an avid reader ever since. I knew right away I wanted to be a bee blogger for the site when my time came. I applied and got rejected. I applied again and got rejected again. I applied one more time and guess what? I got rejected again. I thought maybe the whole third times the charm would work for me. Guess not.

It sucks, but you know what it made me realize? I was planning my wedding for my someday potential Weddingbee readers. How ridiculous is that? I should be planning my wedding for me (and when I say me, I really do mean me and my mister.) I shouldn't be planning it for complete strangers.

I was trying to impress people I didn't even know. Thankfully, our wedding planning hasn't gotten completely out of control yet, but sometimes it looks like it could head that way. I'm lassoing it in now though. I've got a little over four months to make this wedding all about us and no one else.

I don't need Weddingbee to have an awesome wedding. I've got my readers on here and my family and friends to cheer me on and I'm so thankful for all of you.

So please remember to plan for yourself. It's your special day and no one else's!

Have you caught the Weddingbee bug?

  1. Happy birthday! I am sorry about Weddingbee, but I totally agree with you. You should definitely plan your wedding for you and your hubby to be! I am sure it will be fantastic no matter what you do! :)

  2. I got rejected from Weddingbee recently too...for the second time. But you know what, I almost felt relieved when I got rejected. I was putting pressure on myself to blog how I thought Weddingbee wanted me to, and after a while it made blogging much less enjoyable! Now I have the freedom to blog however (and how often) I want.

  4. Happy Birthday! I turn 26 in July :o)

I started blogging before I found Weddingbee, but once I found it, I did want to apply to be a bee for a while. But by the time I became eligible, I'd decided not to. It's a really big commitment and I also didn't want to have to blog in a specific style. Blogging on your own means you can be more unique and truly express yourself. Now that I've found other wonderful bloggers like you, who needs Weddingbee?

  5. I'm sorry they didn't want you, Jenn, but it's definitely their loss. And I am so impressed by your attitude about it, speaking as a proud mom. You are a unique and special young woman and you certainly don't need Weddingbee's approval.

I know your wedding is going to be awesome and magical and just what YOU and Randy want. And sorry if I've embarrassed you in front of your readers with my mush. ;)

  6. First off - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

You're totally NOT the only one...I applied three times as well, and never even got the rejection email the last time! I guess they figured if they just ignored me then I would go away...

In the end, I'm glad that it worked out that way. My blog was for ME, my wedding was for US, and that's the way that it should be. I'm glad that you're taking it so well...keep your chin up and keep on trucking!

  7. I've been rejected 3 times, and it will probably be a fourth since it's been a week since I applied and I don't think "yes's" take that long.

    C'est la vie!

  10. I've applied twice and am contemplating a 3rd time because I am a glutton for punishment and I've always been the little engine that could.
