Zero Tan Lines = A Happy Bride

I had a plan before summer came. I have a strapless bikini top I intended on wearing all summer long to prevent shoulder and chest tan lines. I knew if I were sunbathing on my stomach I would have to untie the back so I didn't have a tan line going across my exposed back in my wedding dress.

Well, guess what? I threw it all in the garbage this past Saturday. (PS...I also messed up a couple weeks ago when I purchased a cute, new bathing suit from Old Navy that was NOT strapless....oops!)

Yes I'm modeling in my sports bra after an awesome workout. I'm not letting a "little" sunburn take me
away from making my body hot for my wedding day :)

Look how sad I look. :( It's sad really because I love the pool and it was almost 100 here in Austin. I did put suntan lotion on (SPF 30) but I happen to be a fair-skinned strawberry-blond hair sporting girl. I burn. It's horrible. I guess I need to live like a vampire from now until October to prevent more of these mistakes from happening.

If I plan on avoiding the sun for the rest of the summer (which I'm telling you right now is very unlikely) I'm gonna have to find color somewhere in time to climb into my dress in October. I have this fear that I'm going to be the same color as my dress and that's just not appealing to me or my mister.

In walks spray-tanning. I don't trust do-it-yourself tanners as I've messed those up in the past. I was told the spray tan places where someone actually sprays you as opposed to the ones where you go in a booth are better.

So I'm adding one more thing to my to do list: Go get a spray tan. I'm planning on dragging my sister along to try it with me in the next month or so. We'll see if it works for real then. I just want to look sun-kissed, not sun-baked.

Have you gone spray tanning? Was it successful and do you have any tips for me before I go?

  1. i did it last year and it was great! I prefer the ones where a specialist does the spraying instead of a machine... did the machine once and it was too orangey. I am sure you will look great! that burn will be history by October. look into Ocean Potion After Sun Lotion... a beach girls BFF!

  2. I started following your blog recently and can't wait to read your journey :) I have been spray tanning myself for the past two weeks and have had GREAT luck with Loreal Sublime Bronze. I have my sister spray my back where I can't see but I have had no streaking. One of my close friends does the "Airbrush tanning" where a specialist sprays you and she loves it! Hope that helps!

  3. I got an airbrush tan before my wedding day because I was just too busy with everything to go to a tanning bed every day for 20 mins. It turned out great... no lines, it took about 30 mins, and I only went once! The only downside was it stained my nails orangish for a little while but overall so worth it.

  4. That's great to hear MrsMis. I think I'm definitely gonna go for it and maybe I can just paint over my nails if they turn orangish.

I bought some of that L'oreal stuff to try on my legs... we'll see how it goes... :)

  6. Well I've got that Jergens stuff and it works well for my legs. They make it for the face too but my dress exposes so much it'd be hard to apply it everyday to build the tan, especially on my back.
