An Important Meeting

A couple weeks ago my fiance and I had our first face-to-face meeting with our photographer, Nathan Russell. If you remember, we chose him to shoot our wedding. We met to discuss our wedding day and engagement shots.

It got me thinking about all the options available to engagement shoots and sent me into google image research mode.

Here's an example of some couple shots that Nathan has taken: (all gorgeous, by the way)

Cute, right? I know Nathan wants to talk about the style of our wedding, but I think a large part of our meeting is going to be about our engagement shoot. I've been trying to brainstorm ideas on locations as well as certain shots I've seen online that I'd love to recreate.

Let's start with the easy part - images I want to create.

Thanks to Miss Scissors on Weddingbee, we've got the ever popular laying in the grass staring into each other's eyes shot. I don't know why I find this shot so magical but I do. Therefore it is a must-have pic. (mine will be minus the paper cranes, though. I don't think I have the paper-folding skills.)

I just love the walking away hand-in-hand shot. It just seems so serene and there's a sense of contentment in a photo like this. I have a picture from my high school prom where my date and I are walking away holding hands and it's my favorite shot of the whole night. So again, this is a must-have.

I've seen a lot of this type of photo lately. The couple hugging or kissing in shadow on the side of the building. I love love love it. So fun.

I love the photos where couples can really show their personality. The last two photos are of my friends Guy and Leesa (our officiant and one of my Co-MOHs.) How cute are they?

Next up: Possible locations for our engagement shoot....stay tuned!

How did you find inspiration for your engagement photos?

  1. I've always been a sucker for the piggy back ride shots. If you and your mister are laughing and having a good time, you would probably have some cute candid shots doing that.

My photo dilema right now is weather to trash or not trash the dress after the wedding..... I'm so torn!!!

  2. I love the idea of the trash the dress shoot but I definitely wouldn't be able to do it in my actual dress. I wouldn't have the heart. And I don't think my fiance would really be into the idea. I love looking at the pictures but I think I'll have to skip it.
