It's What's Underneath That Counts

I'm not actually referring to beauty and people, but it's true of that too. I'm talking about what to wear under your wedding dress. (Men that read this blog - I know there are a few of you - feel free to skip as this post probably won't interest you.)

Girls, when you purchased your dress did you think about undergarments first? I sure as heck didn't. And let me tell you, it has been a difficult search. Here are some pictures of my dress so that you will understand my difficulty.

So basically I needed something strapless and backless. Backless? I know right. Well I didn't have any luck when searching, so I turned to the ladies of Weddingbee and one lady pointed me in the directions of Her Room and this particular undergarment:

With a couple clicks this slip would be mine in a few days. Of course as soon as it came in the mail I took the opportunity to try on my dress one more time, but with this slip underneath. Overall I like it. It's got this sticky stuff on the cups to hold them in place and it's pretty slimming.

My only issue is that it seems like it sags a bit. So I'm going to see if the seamstress can sew the garment in. I hold they can so it stays in place better on my wedding day.

Here's my other issue. If any of you have worn a strapless dress or just have some kind of creative, genius idea please share. My dress is backless. A lot of times my bras make lines or indentations in my back. What do I wear the day off the wedding before I get into my dress so that I can avoid lines?

Next up: What's underneath is not to be seen by the groom...A Change of Wardrobe!

Did you have a difficult time shopping for your undergarment? Or are you able to wear your "something special" for your groom under your dress the whole day?

  1. I'm in the same boat as you. I have a dress with a low back and also need a strapless and backless bra. If the one you bought is sagging then I probably won't get it. I'm large chested so I need real support! I'll have to look for the thread on Weddingbee for other suggestions.

  2. It's not so much sagging as twisting weirdly...I don't know, it's hard to explain. I'm hoping I can get the seamstress to sew it into the dress to keep it straight.

  4. It's kinda sad cause spanx seem like a very necessary thing but they are so not sexy. :(
