Pretty in Blue and Yellow (Not Pink!)

Sorry, Pretty in Pink was on TV over the weekend and it inspired the title of this blog entry! (PS...don't you just love Ducky!) Ok, as promised, here is the first of many DIY posts. And can I just tell you, I have been B-U-S-Y!!! SO first up are our arbor decorations!

Do you remember the bouquets I made for myself and my ladies? If not, check 'em out! (Although actually they look a bit different now - another post is necessary. But same concept!) Well, when I finished with the bouquets I had a bunch - and by bunch I mean hundreds (I think my sister and I got a little carried away) - of tissue paper circles left over. I knew I'd find some use for them so I slipped them into an envelope and saved them for later.

Well then a couple weeks ago, my sister and I headed out to my venue to take some measurements and photographs of some specific areas of the site, one of them being the arbor. They have a metal arbor already set up with fake ivy and twinkle lights wrapped around it. Well when we got there flowers were still up from a wedding over the weekend. It immediately gave me an idea of what I wanted.

Enter leftover paper flowers. In addition to the yellow and white flowers I originally made, I also added some blue flowers in (made with security envelopes)! I headed to my favorite store, JoAnn Fabrics for two Styrofoam half-balls and one rectangular Styrofoam piece. I think it was about 1.5 feet long.

First I inserted a couple pieces of long wire through the Styrofoam pieces so that I will be able to attach them to the metal frame of the arbor. Then, I just started inserting the individual flowers until the entire surface was covered. It was very easy and didn't take much time at all. (Keep in mind that the flowers were already made.)

Here's my question now though, do you think I should add ribbon to make it look a bit more interesting or simply leave it with just the flowers?

Please excuse my crappy ribbons, I promise the real thing will look much better if I decide to use ribbon.

How did you decorate you ceremony space? What inspired your ideas?
